The shape of the Ford Escape doesn't just look great -- it's also designed to reduce drag on the vehicle body that wind resistance produces. This interior is also eco-conscious. More than 10 lbs. of recovered cotton from jeans, sweaters, T-shirts and other items -- material that otherwise would be sent to a landfill -- is used in sound-absorption material throughout the vehicle. The carpet in all models is manufactured from a blend of postindustrial polyester fibers, which reduces the need for new raw materials and helps eliminate waste. The postconsumer fibers are derived from recycled plastic bottles. In total, about 25 recycled 20-ounce bottles are in the carpeting.
